The Highcom 4sss2 is one of the highest end lightweight level 4 standalone ballistic plate on the market, comprised of a silicon carbide (SiC) strikeface with a lightweight, high performance polyethylene backer.

The silicon carbide strikeface offers a good balance between weight and ballistic performance compared to alumina and boron carbide, as it is lighter than alumina, and with better performance against tungsten carbide (WC) armour piercing ammunition compared to the more expensive boron carbide.
